Pre-K Collaborative Posters with the Grade 11 &12 Students

Education Week kicked off with PreK - grade 12 colouring pieces to create a big pumpkin poster. They had fun visiting and getting to know each other.

The finished puzzles!

The big kids also helped us exchange our library books and then read to us.

After that we did puzzles, coloured some more and played together.

Kindergarten Grain Project

We followed up our GRAIN PROJECT from Pre-K
What happens to crops in the fall?
Harvest - cut it down, combine it, haul it in trucks, dump it in the bin.
"I got to drive the combine!" "We have a semi truck!"
What are oats used for?
"Cookies" "Breakfast" "Feed it to the horses."
How do you turn oats from the bin into cookies and breakfast oatmeal?
The students didn't know how so we watched some video clips of oats being turned into oatmeal. Mostly the oats seeds are rolled over and flattened but sometime they are cut up and usually the 'husk' or the papery jacket is taken out.

The best part of the project?
Making and eating oatmeal porridge!

* Thanks again to Nicole for getting this project up and growing.

* We also know that seeds need, soil, water, sun and air to grow.

Kindergarten Math Patterns

Patterns are an important part of Math for the next few years. In Kindergarten we need to be able to build a repeating pattern and name the core (the part that repeats). We also want to be able to continue or copy a pattern.

Kindergarten Grandparent Day

Grandparent Day was such fun and so important for these young students. The interest and support they experience builds a solid foundation for their school years of learning and growing. There were great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, family friends and a little brother at school that day. We showed our special guests many of the activities we enjoy at school, did a craft about 'Beautiful Hands' and had a bit of assistance with our snack.

These were shared on seesaw and then I decided that I prefer this Blog for general pictures, activities and explanations. You may see us out...
